Ashley Williams started at ABACS as a Behavior Therapist back in 2009. She has worked in nearly every role within the agency, and is now responsible for overseeing all operations within the company. She supervises all Clinical and Operations teams.
What is your first memory of being interested in ABA?
I had an undergraduate professor who taught psychology of learning and a lot of the class covered ABA. We had a textbook by Dick Mallott that I really enjoyed, and the professor encouraged me to pursue a career in ABA based on my interest in the class. My professor encouraged me to apply to Kennedy Krieger, so I did, and I started working there as a Clinical Assistant... and the rest is history.
What is your favorite thing about working at ABACS?
The people. I feel like it's not work - I don't think people have this much fun at work. People are encouraging and reinforcing.
What is something funny that has happened during your time at ABACS?
One time about two years ago, Brandon showed up at work in a Unicorn head. It was an inside joke about a unicorn, and Brandon took that to heart and decided to purchase the unicorn mask. It was entirely too lifelike and it scared the bejeesus out of many of our staff. It was great.
What are some things you are excited about seeing happen or about doing at ABACS?
We hear about ideas that might seem like lofty goals, but I have been here for long enough to see them happen. I am excited to see future growth and to hear ideas and to know that they are real possibilities. I am interested to see the area we serve expand and for our agency to continue to grow.
What are you doing when you are not at work?
I am working on my dissertation, going to barre, or working on my new house. We just bought a new house, and I am terrified of it collapsing at any moment.
What do you want to eat RIGHT NOW?
I am full.
